Coastal Explorers: Sailing and Science

Haul the sails and head out on an adventure of a life time aboard the Schooner Ardelle out of Gloucester!

Climb aboard and set a course for fun & exploration! Through this week-long program students will learn to sail a traditional Gloucester fishing schooner while participating in exciting hands-on marine science and maritime heritage explorations at Maritime Gloucester & along the coast of the North Shore. Students will spend their first two days on shore exploring topics in marine science and maritime heritage in MG’s labs, aquarium and in the field.

Over the next three days we will sail off to a different coastal destination aboard Schooner Ardelle. Whether it’s to climb the lighthouse on Thacher's Island and learn about its nesting seabirds, navigate to Dry Salvages to see seals up close, or explore an island with tide pools and a shipwreck, fun and good times will be had with every day a new adventure!
