Nature Scavenger Hunt at Berwick Academy
Join us at Berwick Academy on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 1–3 p.m. for a creative, nature-based exploration of Berwick’s campus, while learning what makes our PK–4 Lower School a special place to learn and play. Parents and children will engage in various learning adventures during this creative campus nature tour, while enjoying the Hilltop’s natural sights, sounds, and scents. Families will connect with teachers and current students in the process, with prizes and takeaways included in the experience.

Get fresh local produce at the Beverly Farmers Market in downtown Beverly Massac
This is a great farmers' market connected to a large grassy park in downtown Beverly.  There is always music and a lot of shade.  The market offers fresh local produce as well as cheese, meat, eggs, bread, muffins, dog treats, massage, jewelry, and books.  The kids have a blast playing tag, meeting new friends, and listening to music.  The park is dog friendly, has plenty of parking and access to the commuter rail. This is a wonderful spot for an impromptu picnic!

The Newburyport Scarecrow Contest is open to the public and free to all!
The Newburyport Scarecrow contest is open to the public and free to all! Entries by individuals, families, teams, schools, churches, clubs, organizations, businesses are all welcome. The goal of this contest is to create a gallery of fun, inventive scarecrows throughout Market Square.  This contest is part of Newburyport's Fall Harvest Festival, and entries are expected to be on display until the festival is over!

Brookwood School things to do for preschool children.
Join us at Brookwood School on Tuesday mornings in October for an adventure complete with music, crafts and outdoor exploration. Taught by Brookwood faculty Andrew Luman (Music) and Sarah Shea (Science), children will use their senses to discover and enjoy the beauty of nature. These 1-hour classes are held in our science gym, as well as around the pond, streams, fields and forests on our campus as weather permits. Little Herons classes for 3- to 5-year-olds are free and family-friendly. Parents and children are welcome to attend one or multiple sessions. Class size is limited.

Topsfield Fair is one of the longest running annual fairs in the United States
The Topsfield Fair is a perennial favorite for us.  We're not the biggest fans of the midway, although it is always worth a walkthrough and a ride or two.  We love fruits and vegetables, and are always on the lookout for the winning 'biggest pumpkin'.  Another favorite is checking out the pigs and other farm animals, as well as the interesting variety of guinea pigs and rabbits.

Salem Common Neighborhood Association invites families to the Common for an afternoon of fun for the whole family!
There's nothing like October in Salem and the SCNA is thrilled to host two weekends of our annual Kids Carnival on the Common including rides, face painting, and family fun! There is no admission fee to enter the carnival. Tickets for rides are $3/ticket or $15 for an unlimited daily wristband. Each ride costs 1 ticket.

Come to the Biz Baz Fair to shop for things uniquely Salem and enjoy the anticip
Come to Downtown Salem to enjoy outdoor shopping on a crisp early fall weekend.  Shop for uniquely Salem items at over 100 vendor booths on the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall, Hawthorne Boulevard and surrounding areas. Entertainers, street performers and live music performances all add to the festive atmosphere.  Wear a costume or come to just feel the anticipation of Halloween in the air! Hosted by the Salem Chamber of Commerce.
