Do you and your child or grandchild love to cook together? Choose a recipe from children's cookbook "Cooking Step by Step" by DK Publishing, and together with your child prepare it and bring it in to share! Pick up a copy of the book in children's services. Kids in grades k-5 are invited to play chess at Salem Public Library.
Kids in grades k-5 who have an interest in chess are invited to come to the Salem Public Library to play chess with other enthusiasts of the game! Novice players are welcome and there are no instructors present. This two hour session is designed to provide a friendly environment for kids to test their skills against other opponents! Cape Ann Farmers Market hosts their annual dinner and movie featuring 'Local Thirty'
The Cape Ann Farmers' Market will be holding their annual fundraiser this year at the Cape Ann Community Cinema! Join them for a dinner and movie at the cinema featuring the film 'Local Thrity', a film that follows farmer Andrea Bemis and her family as they meet seven producers from the Oregon coast to Oregon ranching country during a month-long commitment to eating foods grown or harvested within 200 miles. Maureen Aylward bring the storytelling program, Fish Tales, which she produces through the Gloucester Writers Center, back to our fundraiser with the theme “Food for Thought.” Come enjoy the community spirit, share a movie and a meal and help support the Farmer's Market.

The farm is coming alive in April and there is so much to do! Dig into vacation at Appleton Farms and become a farmer for a day (or 5)! You’ll get to help care for our animals, learn to grow and eat farm fresh food, create natural crafts, and explore the farm as it wakes up to spring!  Your little farmers will come home with stories of adventure, a deeper understanding of where their food comes from, a sense of responsibility, and memories made with new friends.

Find out where our seafood comes from, how people can collect energy from the ocean, and how to protect our oceans and coastline as they show signs of climate change. Family presentations will be offered at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
